Key Stage 3 Information
From Key Stage 3 to A-level the DT teachers want to encourage the students to enjoy designing and making products to a high standard and to be proud of their work.

We are pleased to say that students enjoy DT and the projects we do and the subject is always rated by the students as one of their favourites. Pictures of past project can be seen on the homework homework link below.
Key Stage 4 Information
TDesign Technology is offered as a full GCSE options at Key Stage 4:

options have been both popular and successful for a considerable period of time and students enjoy the work and the opportunities studying DT offers.
Coursework accounts for 50% of the courses and we use the AQA exam board.

Key Stage 5 Information
The DT department offers AQA GSE Product Design at Key Stage 5. This subject is taught in small groups and involves the students in a wide variety of design and makes tasks in Year 12 and a self directed larger project in Year 13. Students are given the opportunity to work on an impressive design portfolio to support their application to university or employment. Coursework accounts for 50% of the exam.

Out of School Activities
Students are encouraged to attend after school or lunchtime sessions to improve or catch up on DT practical work. Mr Sach is available in the LRC to help students with written/design work before and after school and every lunch time.
Any other Information
Students are provided with a blue apron for practical lessons but are encouraged to bring their own if they wish.
Students are expected to bring pens, pencils etc. to all lessons.
Students in Year 9 -11 may wish to purchase an A3 folder from the school.
Revision guides are sold to the students at a discount rate.

Homework
Homework is set approximately every other week at Key Stage 3 and more often at Key Stage 4. Topics and examples are detailed on the school website, see above link. Occasionally homework may take the form of after school or lunchtime practical work in Key Stage 4/5.

Students who fail to complete homework will have a note written in their planner and be asked to complete the work at the teachers convenience.
