Shirley High School pupils are celebrating another set of fantastic GCSE results. The educational journey of this cohort has seen them face the challenges of a pandemic and lockdowns during their transition.  We are so proud of the resilience and relentless drive so many have shown to achieve these results.

Today we celebrate some stand-out performances, in particular Summer E who achieved incredible grades of six 9s, two 8s and one 7. “I am so happy and proud of my results.  I would like to thank my teachers, especially in English and History, for all their hard work and amazing support.  I am looking forward to staying on at Shirley High School and studying Psychology, Biology and Sociology at A’ Level.”

Principal Tyrone Myton stated “We are so proud of our pupils.  There is no doubt that they have lived through a difficult period in their lives but they have come out the other side with strong results and opportunities to have a choice over their educational future.  We can not underestimate the impact the previous years have had on our children and society but today is a day that we can celebrate with them all that they have achieved.”

Other students who have achieved excellent results this year include Ben E (3 x 9s, 3 x 8s and 3 x 7s) and  Roxana K (3x 9s, 3 x 8s, 2x 7s and 1x 5)

Stacey Brown, Assistant Principal in charge of Key Stage 5 is looking forward to welcoming another ambitious cohort to our highly successful and thriving Sixth Form: “After our recent celebration of brilliant A level results, I am excited to support the next cohort to fulfil their potential. With 25% of the outgoing Year 13s attending Russell Group universities, we cannot wait to build on this success.”

Shirley High School would like to offer congratulations to all our pupils collecting results this summer. We wish them all the best for the future and celebrate with them being one step closer to achieving their ambitions.
