“The Doctor will see you now….”
One of the highlights of our Post 16 results is to celebrate that one of our own students has secured their place at Queen Mary’s University to study Medicine. Ivan S, who has been at Shirley High School since year 7, achieved outstanding AAA grades in Biology, Chemistry and Maths 'I am so incredibly proud to be the first Shirley High Student to be going to University to study medicine. This has come through dedication and commitment, alongside the amazing support and encouragement I received from the teachers. I want others to know to trust in the process. Hard work and commitment will pave a road to success. I wholeheartedly believe that I would not be in this position without the guidance and belief I received, and I cannot thank the school enough. It highlights that the sixth form has students' personal goals and achievements at its heart.’
Shirley High School Sixth Form is celebrating unprecedented success and Principal Tyrone Myton stated that the excellent outcomes of Ivan and all the other students paves the way for future success: “We are so proud of all of our students’ achievements, but especially Ivan’s. His hard work and dedication embody the values of our school and the constant drive of our sixth form to be scholarly and professional. By thriving in their studies, our students have secured the next step of their educational and career journey. They have shown that Shirley High Sixth Form can compete with the best KS5 establishments in the country. No matter the background of the student, we are determined and committed to helping them achieve their full potential.”

Through her hard work and the outstanding support from her teachers, she has achieved B,B in Art and Photography and will be continuing her study of the arts at university in the UK. Her resilience and creativity is so inspiring and she is a role model for all within our community.
23% of our students achieved A*-A grades and 47% of students achieved A*-B or equivalent across all qualifications. All of whom worked incredibly hard to secure these grades as they take their next steps towards their bright futures.
